BYU and Utah men’s basketball both received invitations to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) after falling short of NCAA Tournament qualification this year.

Both teams tip their first round games Wednesday night.

Utah (19-11) enters the NIT for the second straight year. The Utes are a No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 UC Davis (22-10) in the first round at the Huntsman Center.

UC Davis won the Big West regular-season title. The Aggies lost to Washington and beat Washington State in non-conference play.

Utah lost to Boise State in the first round of the NIT last season. The Utes did not play a team from the Big West this season.

Utah’s game tips 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN3/WatchESPN.

BYU (24-10) claims a No. 6 seed and will travel to face No. 3 Stanford (18-15).

This is BYU’s third-straight appearance in the NIT. The Cougars lost in the first round to UT-Arlington in 2017 and advanced to the semifinals in 2016.

BYU last played at Stanford in 2013, a 112-103 win.

That game tips at 8 p.m. and will air on ESPNU.
