Sonia was born March 10, 1938, in the home in which she was raised in Coalville, Utah, to Ray and Boletta Lythgoe Clark. She grew up there with four sisters and three brothers.
She graduated from North Summit High School as Valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. Degree and was selected as outstanding student in the College of Nursing. She started her career in nursing at the Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital, where she worked for five years. She then taught nursing at Weber State University for 32 years, retiring in 1998. During this time she also worked in Labor & Delivery at McKay-Dee Hospital which was her first love in nursing, even as a student nurse.
She Enjoys playing the piano, reading, watching TV, and has crocheted many afghans, toys, and baby clothing for family and others.
She has been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as she served in various positions, mainly as ward and choir organist for many years starting as early as the age of 10.
She married Ronald F. Parker in 1960, and they raised four daughters in Hooper, Utah. He passed away in 2009. She married L. Ralph Nelson in 2010, and they continue to live in Hooper. They served an 18 month mission in the Washington D.C. Temple from 2012 to 2013, and as ordinance workers in the Ogden, Utah, Temple.
In addition to her daughters: Karla (Steve) Stotts, Darla (Todd) Rhodes, Susan (Reid) Newey and Shannon (Trent) Peterson; she has 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; stepchildren: Richard (Sheila, deceased) Nelson, Debbie (Chuck) Froehlich, 17 step-grandchildren and 30 step-great-grandchildren.
