The Literacy Council of Kingsport hosted its 13th annual Savvy SCRABBLE® Social game night fundraiser on Friday, March 8, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kingsport.
Attendees enjoyed a fun-filled evening featuring SCRABBLE®, hors d’oeuvres, door prizes, and a silent auction filled with an array of items. Silent auction items included a necklace from Diamond Exchange, Symphony of the Mountains season tickets, pottery and carved wooden bowls from local artists, a P. Buckley Moss print framed by Up Against the Wall Gallery, several golf outings, Dollywood tickets, and much more.
Three rounds of bracketed play were followed by a championship round. Player prizes were awarded to the top three individual players and top three teams at event. Door prizes were also awarded.
The event raised funds to support the Literacy Council, a non-profit organization that provides free one-on-one tutoring for adults and qualified children to improve their literacy skills and help achieve their individual goals.
A special thank you to event sponsors: Eastman Credit Union, UBS Financial Services, Sleep Number, Wilson Worley Attorneys At Law, Timothy Miller – Raymond James, Leading Edge Financial Planning, Harold Dishner - State Farm, Toyota of Kingsport, and Morrison/Stevens-Over Easy Scrabblers.
