On Feb. 7, a section of roadway just south of the Hancock County line collapsed due to heavy rain.
Nagi said loose material was cleared from the site and the roadway was replaced by construction of a rock buttress.
“We had to remove the unstable material and install a rock buttress using graded solid rock,” Nagi said. “The excavation proved to not be as substantial as originally thought. This allowed the area to be excavated in a much shorter timeframe.”
Nagi added, “Due to the fact the excavation amount was reduced, a smaller quantity of graded solid rock for the buttress was needed. In addition, additional hours of our forces was allocated to accelerate the work.”
TDOT crews performed the repair work.
