CLEARFIELD — Clearfield scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to take a region contest 2-1 over Northridge on Tuesday, but may have lost their most productive bat in the process.
In the top of the fifth, with Northridge ahead 1-0, two outs and two Knights on base, Clearfield’s (7-6, 5-2 Region 1) Jake Angelico crashed into the fence and made a game-saving catch, but broke his leg on the play.
“I'm very proud of our boys.” Falcons head coach Steve Ross said. “Watching a teammate removed in an ambulance and being able to respond with the heart and character they showed today speaks to the type of young men in our dugout. Jake will be hard to replace, but I'm confident in those that will need to step up to replace him.”
