On Sept. 26, a Sullivan County grand jury was presented with evidence in the case against Gary L. Hammonds, 49. True bills were returned on 80 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.
According to court records, the case was investigated by the Kingsport Police Department. In July, Hammonds is alleged to have sold, purchased or exchanged patently offensive materials depicting minors engaged in sexual activity.
On Monday morning, Hammonds was arrested on warrants during a Kingsport Police Department traffic stop in Lynn Garden. His address is listed as a residence on Edward Street.
After being booked into the Kingsport jail, Hammonds was transported to the Sullivan County detention facility in Blountville. On Monday afternoon, he posted $40,000 bond and was released.
The date of his next court appearance was not immediately known.
