KINGSPORT — The Ford Ranger pickup reported stolen Tuesday morning in Bloomingdale was located Wednesday at 7:15 a.m. on Adair Avenue in East Carters Valley. However, authorities are still seeking two unidentified juveniles suspected in the crime.

According to a Wednesday afternoon news release from Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Andy Seabolt, police believe the juveniles also crashed a car into a utility pole on Bloomingdale Road before taking the pickup from a nearby driveway, where its owner had left it running to warm up.

The female owner of the Ranger grabbed onto the vehicle in a failed attempt to stop the theft. She was dragged along the driveway but did not require medical attention.

Because the suspects are juveniles, Seabolt said their names cannot be released. Investigators are still pursuing leads and attempting to locate the two, he said.

The collision with the utility pole knocked down power lines and blocked Bloomingdale Road between Forest View Road and Idle Hour Road.

Police believe the juveniles also tried but failed to steal another vehicle before making away with the Ford pickup.
