BLOUNTVILLE — A Sullivan County man has been indicted for several alleged sex crimes against a juvenile he was entrusted to be with.

Bruce Allen Johnston, 50, was jailed Friday on six counts of statutory rape by an authority figure. He also faces one count of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

Investigators at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office say Johnston was a friend of the 13-year-old victim’s family. The case was presented to a grand jury on Nov. 28.

According to court records, Johnston had some parental or custodial responsibility over the child but intentionally engaged the juvenile in sexual activity. The incidents are alleged to have occurred in October.

Johnston, address listed as Hatterdale Farm Road in Blountville, remained incarcerated in the Sullivan County jail on Wednesday. His bond has been set at $100,000.
