Dylan Kyle Gatewood, 21, was arrested Friday morning. Warrants against him were obtained following an April 15 meeting of the Hawkins County grand jury.
According to court records, investigators presented evidence that in November 2017 Gatewood sexually penetrated the victim. At that time the victim was 12 and Gatewood 19, netting a true bill for rape of a child less than 13, a Class A felony.
The grand jury also affirmed previous burglary, theft and vandalism charges against Gatewood.
Early in the morning of Sept. 2, 2018, a Hawkins County deputy spotted the concession stand windows open at Cherokee High School. When police entered the building, they reportedly found Gatewood and another man hiding in a back room and possessing a crowbar. Also located were two trash bags packed with food that the pair reportedly intended to steal.
Gatewood, 197 S. Fork Branch Road, Rogersville, was released Saturday night after posting $100,000 bond. His next court date is set for June 7.
