Woman accused of making false allegations against Sullivan jailer

Staff report • May 2, 2019 at 11:36 AM

BLOUNTVILLE — A Kingsport woman has been indicted after reportedly making false claims of sexual assault against a Sullivan County corrections officer.

In April 2018, Shauna Jones, 30, was jailed for one week in Blountville for violation of probation. According to information released Thursday by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Jones reported that during that time a jailer sexually assaulted her.

At the request of Sullivan County District Attorney General Barry Staubus, the TBI looked into Jones’ claims. Investigators discovered that she lied about the incident, according to the TBI, and that evidence was presented last week to a Sullivan County grand jury.

Indictments were returned against Jones for falsely reporting sexual assault. On Wednesday, she was arrested on the charge and booked into the Sullivan County jail. Her bond was set at $10,000.
