As the first day of school draws nigh and summer slips away, fun-seekers can soak up the last drops of the season with the Davis County Fair, from Aug. 16-19, with a 2017 theme of “Come and Sea It!”
The Davis County Fair began in 1929 but hasn’t run consecutively since the early 1990s, according to the Davis County website.
The fair hosts food, music, entertainment, 4-H, monster trucks, a rodeo and more at the fairgrounds, located at 151 S. 1100 West in Farmington. For more information about the fair, as well as a full schedule of events, visit http://bit.ly/2uLervh.
Here are three ways you can make the most of this year’s fair:
1. Free admission, free events
You can make a trip to the fair cost-effective for the whole family. General admission is free, and so are several events, including:
Hungry? You can even get in on some free watermelon — and lots of it. There are watermelon eating contests at 5 p.m. Aug. 17 and 2 p.m. Aug. 18.
2. Make some furry, scaly and slippery friends
County fairs revolve around the animals, but in addition to the four-legged or feathered beasts you would expect, there are sea creatures and exotic animals as well.
3. Music, magic and more entertainment all day
No matter when you head out to the Davis County Fair, be prepared for some first-class entertainment.
Throughout the day, the event’s main stage will host musicians, dancers, magicians, hypnotists and much more. Here’s a look at the schedule:
Wednesday, Aug. 16
Thursday, Aug. 17
Friday, Aug. 18
Saturday, Aug. 19
