KINGSPORT — The World Long Drive Tour is returning to the Cattails Golf Course this weekend.

And just like last year, thousands of golf fans are expected to attend the three day event here in the Model City, possibly as many as 4,000 people from across the country. For local residents, that means there will be issues with traffic in and around the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center.

The event — Tennessee Big Shots Benefiting Niswonger Children’s Hospital —– will take place Saturday through Monday, with the conclusion broadcast live on Golf Channel from 6-8 p.m. on Monday.

In order to accommodate an event of this magnitude, there will be a change to the traffic pattern on Meadowview Parkway during the following times:

— Saturday from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

— From 8 a.m. on Sunday until the conclusion of the event on Monday (approximately 9 p.m.)

During these times, Meadowview Parkway will be closed to through traffic between the Kingsport Aquatic Center/YMCA and Wilcox Drive. A detour will be in place for those needing to access businesses in the area via Spring Meadow Court and Park Meadow Place during the closure times.

Motorists should expect short delays.

Event parking will be at the conference center. Its entrance closest to Interstate 26 will be the only available entrance to MeadowView during this time. All event participants and guests must use this entrance.
