BIG STONE GAP, VA - Pamela Kaye Wilson Smith, 52, passed away on Friday (Mar. 8, 2019) at her home.
She was born in Norton, Va. and lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap. She was a graduate of Powell Valley High School in 1984 and received her A.A.S. from Mountain Empire Community College in 1985. Pam worked for St. Mary’s Hospital and Norton Community Hospital as a telemetry technician. She had a giving heart and loved to help others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert D. Wilson and Lyda “Katie” (Bowman) Hawkins, and her step-father, Fred Hawkins.
Surviving are Pam’s husband of 32 years, Joey Smith; her son, Dustin Smith and wife, Ashley of Big Stone Gap; granddaughter, Melodee Smith; and a host of other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday (Mar. 16, 2019) at the Appalachia Pentecostal Church (340 Oak Street, Appalachia, Va. 24216) with Dr. Roy Smith and Pastor John Grayson Cothron officiating.
