IMBODEN, VA - Emerson Walker Collier, 95, of Imboden, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on Sunday May 12, 2019.

He was born on August 19, 1923,  Emerson was a respected World War II combat veteran and a cherished member of the Imboden Church.

We stand in awe of what he was: A man of intelligence and creativity, skilled in woodworking, beekeeping, cooking and gardening. Dahlias standing tall in the summer, the smell of fresh sawdust and the taste of honeycomb will always whisper his memory in our hearts.

We treasure who he was: A faithful Christian and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who exemplified the meaning of sacrifice, perseverance, courage and integrity. His walk with Jesus and dedication to provide for his family define the true meaning of love and humility.

We mourn the great void left behind by a man with such depth of character, yet rejoice in the assurance that this good and faithful servant has joined his Sweetheart and met his Saviour.

Emerson was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years Gladys.

He is survived by his children Zetta Ferguson(Ed), Vince Collier(Daphne), Melvin Collier(Delores), Charlotte Collier; seven grandchildren Casey Collier, Dustin Collier, Carrie Koontz(Ben), Lindsey Potter(Andy), Derek Collier(Fran), Alex Souder, Taylor Souder; four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Roy A. Green Funeral Home, Appalachia, VA.  Funeral services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tony Nunley officiating. The rendering of Military Funeral Honors will be 1 PM- Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
