CLEARFIELD — A 19-year-old Clearfield man was arrested for allegedly killing his seven-week-old son.

Clint Corydon Nokes was booked in Davis County Jail Monday afternoon on one charge of child abuse homicide, a first-degree felony.

On Friday, Dec. 1 at 4:16 p.m., police were dispatched to a call of an unconscious infant that was not breathing, according to a press release from the Clearfield Police Department.

When responders arrived, they began doing CPR on the boy, the release said.

The infant was first taken to a local hospital before being flown via helicopter to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, the release said.

An initial investigation by police indicated the child had signs of physical abuse, according to the release.

Less than 12 hours later, the child died due to the injuries.

Police say the the child’s fatal injuries were non-accidental, the release said.

After additional investigation, Nokes was arrested and booked in jail for the death of his son, the release said.

Fox 13 is reporting the infant suffered a 10-centimeter skull fracture, bleeding of the brain, detached retinas, a broken leg and a broken arm.

There are no other children in the home, the Clearfield press release said.

Nokes has not yet been formally charged with the death of the child, but he is being held without bail at Davis County Jail.
