We are already over a month into 2018 and I have not written about the ATV jamborees scheduled for 2018. I was reminded of that fact in an email from Vickie Mattson last week. While an article I wrote came out on the Tri-State Jamboree coming up in March, that does not help anyone plan for the rest of the year. Thank you, Vickie, for the reminder.
When I bought my first ATV in 1993, I was anxious to learn where I could find trails to ride. The real treasure chest of information came from the ATV jamborees I attended.
More jamborees are held in Utah than in any of the lower 48 states. Each of these ATV events showcases different sections of Utah’s beautiful backcountry. Guides know the trails and are well versed in the history of the areas you will ride.
Here is an overview of each event scheduled for this year in order of occurrence:
Hurricane, March 14 – 17
The Tri-State features three days of guided rides in scenic Washington and Kane counties. New this year will be a night ride in the Hurricane Sands. Registration closes this month, so it is important to act fast. Information is available at www.tristateatvclub.com.
San Rafael Poker Run
San Rafael, April 21
The ride takes place on the north side of the Swell, 26 miles east of Castle Dale. Riders draw a hand of poker on a trail featuring wonderful vistas of the Buckhorn Draw. Contact Robert Pole at 435-630-6188 for information.
