Sullivan East cruises to 13-2 win over Sullivan North

BLUFF CITY — Sullivan East got a combination no-hitter Wednesday in a 13-2 softball win over Sullivan North.

Jillian Shackelford went four innings, walking five and striking out five. Emily Perry needed just eight pitches in the fifth inning to complete the no-hitter.

Chelsea Sams, Emily Watkins and Kylee Wolfe each homered for the Lady Patriots (18-11). Sams had two hits and three RBIs while Watkins had two hits and two RBIs.

Katelyn Loudy drove in a pair of runs and Kayla Honaker had two hits.

Baseball

Johnson County 11, Unicoi County 5

MOUNTAIN CITY — Reise Stout totaled three hits and four RBIs as the Longhorns completed a sweep of the Blue Devils and earned fourth place in the Three Rivers Conference.

Jayden Joiner also had three hits. Asa Lewis and Bradley Livorsi each totaled two hits. On the mound, Ben Howard went the distance and allowed just four hits.

University High 8, Happy Valley 4

MILLIGAN COLLEGE — University High scored five times in the top of the seventh inning for a come-from-behind 8-4 win over Happy Valley.

After three straight singles to start the inning, Cade Pollock put the Bucs ahead with a two-run single. One out later, Briley Townsend doubled in a pair of runs. Kaleb Meredith closed off the scoring with an RBI double.

Meredith went the distance on the mound for UH (18-10), allowing six hits and four runs, one earned.

Carter Pollock had three hits for UH.

For Happy Valley (6-15), Bart Wilson and Bryce Carter each had an RBI.

Starter Charlie Smith pitched five strong innings for the Warriors, allowing five hits and three runs, one earned.
