ROGERSVILLE — The Rogersville Tree Board, Crockett Spring Arboretum and the 4th graders at Rogersville City School will join with Smokey Bear and area foresters to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, March 23.

Each fourth grader will receive a rough leaved dogwood seedling on Friday to take home and plant. Prior to receiving the young trees, students will be instructed in their planting and care.

On Saturday, March 24 the Rogersville Tree Board will offer free seedlings to the public in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church.

A total of 225 seedlings will be available.

Trees offered include willow oak, black gum, and a limited number of rough leaved dogwoods.

The plants are provided by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.

Members of the Rogersville / Hawkins County Sierra Club will help prepare the trees for distribution.

Members of the Hawkins County Master Gardeners Association will be on hand on Saturday morning to offer advice on planting.
