A group of Cherokee High School NJROTC cadets who visited Nashville this week studied Tennessee history, and then marked their names in the state history books via presentations given in the state capital.
Kingsport fire fighters responded to more than 8,300 incidents last year, including 75 structures fires and 48 vehicles. The number of structure fires that occurred within the city dropped in 2018 when compared to the previous year.

KINGSPORT — Jeff Fleming announced his retirement on Wednesday after 35 years with the city and the last five as city manager. The 57-year-old Kingsport native first came to work as an intern in 1984 and over the years rose through the ranks, ultimately securing the top job within the city.
