The National Weather Service reports that moisture continues to stream into the region ahead of an approaching cold front. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected Monday night through Tuesday.

Kingsport used about 950 tons of salt as of Monday morning battling the record-breaking snowfall that took place throughout the Tri-Cities on Sunday.
Derek Eisentrout, a meteorologist with the NWS office in Morristown, said that temperatures in the Tri-Cities haven’t been in the 40s since Friday, and that on Tuesday the Tri-Cities hit a record low of 3 degrees for Jan. 2.
