Ridgeview girls, Central boys earn M7 wins

NORTON — The Ridgeview girls basketball team went into hostile territory Tuesday night and came out with a big victory.

Brooklyn Frazier fired up 21 points to lead the Lady Wolfpack to a 60-49 Mountain 7 District win over host Wise Central, the Lady Warriors’ first league loss of the season.

Ridgeview (8-2, 1-1) led 34-26 at halftime only to see Central (7-5, 2-1) rally and trail by just four, 45-41, entering the final quarter. Frazier then scored 11 of the Wolfpack’s 15 fourth-quarter points to close out the win over the defending VHSL Class 2 champions.

Hunter Grant chipped in with 13 points, hitting three 3-pointers, for Ridgeview. Hannah Dotson also made three 3s and totaled seven points.

Hannah McAmis and Hannah Carter scored 13 points apiece for Central, which also got 10 points from Callie Mullins. McAmis went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.

THOMAS WALKER 57, CASTLEWOOD 17

EWING — Shelbie Fannon and Lakin Burke each scored 14 points to lead the Lady Pioneers to the Cumberland District win at home.

Tenley Jackson chipped in 10 points in the win.

Montana Sutherland was tops for the Lady Blue Devils with eight points.

J.I. BURTON 33, RYE COVE 28

NORTON — Kaylee Jenkins had a game-high 15 points in the Lady Raiders’ Cumberland win over the Lady Eagles.

Sarah Cupova was a force inside for Rye Cove, grabbing 13 rebounds to go with her eight points.

EASTSIDE 53, TWIN SPRINGS 36

NICKELSVILLE — Anna Whited had 21 points, eight rebounds and eight steals to power the Lady Spartans’ Cumberland road win.

Kaylee Yates contributed 13 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals.

UNION 64, LEE HIGH 33

BEN HUR — The Lady Bears went on the road and returned home with the dominating Mountain 7 win.

SCIENCE HILL 68, DANIEL BOONE 30

GRAY — Sophomore Nae Marion scored 18 points in the Lady Hilltoppers’ Big 7 Conference rout of the Lady Trailblazers.

Jeila Greenlee added 15 points, Erin Egerbrecht had 11 and Jasmine Myers scored 10 for Science Hill (10-6, 3-0). Senior standout Alasia Smith found foul trouble early and never really got into the flow of the game.

McKenna Dietz and Savannah Jesse were tops for Daniel Boone (8-7, 3-1) with eight points each. Jaycie Jenkins, the team’s leading scorer, didn’t affect the game much after picking up three first-half fouls.

SULLIVAN EAST 50, UNICOI COUNTY 43

BLUFF CITY — Jenna Hare had 11 points and nine rebounds in the Lady Patriots’ Three Rivers Conference win.

Morgan Bringman and Ashley Nunley each scored 10 — a career-high total for Nunley — and Hayley Grubb added nine.

Caroline Podvin had a game-high 16 points for Unicoi County and Tenley Holt closed with 13.

TENNESSEE HIGH 42, CHEROKEE 36

ROGERSVILLE — The Lady Vikings overcame a slow start to rally past the Lady Chiefs.

Tennessee High righted the ship behind 15 points from Riley Fritts and eight from Kenzie Nickels.

Macy McDavid and Destiny Jarnigan each scored nine points to lead Cherokee. Lydia Alvis added eight.

NORTH GREENE 57, SULLIVAN NORTH 23

BAILEYTON — The Lady Huskies led 19-2 after one quarter and cruised in for the Watauga Valley Conference win.

Brooklyn Anderson was the high scorer for North Greene with nine points, and Haleigh Bernard had seven.

Lilly Crawford matched Anderson for game-high honors with nine points for Sullivan North. Sahara Bates and Kierra Kotee added five apiece.

PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 53, TRI-CITIES CHRISTIAN 17

BLOUNTVILLE—The Lady Knights breezed behind a 20-point night by senior Mary McAllister.

Katie Loran and Madison Ball added eight points apiece for Providence (7-5).

WISE CENTRAL 80, RIDGEVIEW 76

NORTON — Isaiah McAmis hit on all cylinders from all over the floor in the Warriors’ win, scorching the nets for 43 points. He knocked down seven of his team’s nine 3-point shots.

The Wolfpack nearly kept pace in the Mountain 7 matchup thanks to Austin Mullins and Gabe Brown. Mullins scored 22 points, including 12 of Ridgeview’s 28 points in the fourth quarter, and Brown finished with 20.

Elijah Hayes added 13 points and Tre Mullins had seven for the Warriors (10-3, 3-0).

Trenton Adkins chipped in 12 points and Joey Yates and Brody Counts had seven apiece for the Wolfpack (8-4, 0-2).

J.I. BURTON 76, RYE COVE 66

CLINCHPORT — Jordan Mabe poured in 26 points to help the Raiders pick up the road win over the Eagles.

Mikey Culbertson and Trevor Culbertson added to the Burton arsenal with 17 and 13 points.

Ethan Chavez was tops for Rye Cove with 23 points. Zach Baker added 13 and Matthew Rhoton had 11.

CASTLEWOOD 67, THOMAS WALKER 65

EWING — Zach Owens was the fire the ignited the Blue Devils’ Cumberland road win. Owens blazed in 25 points, and teammates Hunter Hicks and Elijah Stafford stoked the coals with 16 and 11 points.

Logan Ely led the Pioneers with 24 points. Caleb Yeary tallied 18 and Zach Kidwell 14.

EASTSIDE 60, TWIN SPRINGS 54

NICKELSVILLE — Ethan Powers dropped 26 points to push the Spartans past the Titans in a Cumberland collision.

Connor Blevins added 15 points for Eastside.

Connor Lane led the Titans in scoring with 27 points, and Justin Reed added 12.

LEE HIGH 54, UNION 51

BEN HUR — Jaxon Collier led the Generals’ balanced offense with a 13-point effort against the Bears.

Jason Whitaker chipped in 11 points and Logan Grace added 10 in the Mountain 7 victory.

Bradley Bunch led the Bears with 16 points. Sean Cusano finished with 12.

SCIENCE HILL 68, DANIEL BOONE 63

GRAY — Jake Matherne and Hunter Phillips combined for 30 points and 21 rebounds to lead the fifth-ranked Hilltoppers (16-1, 3-0 Big 7) past the Trailblazers (9-5, 2-2).

Matherne finished with 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field, adding 10 rebounds. Phillips totaled 12 points and had 11 boards.

Cade Norris was tops for Daniel Boone with 19 points.

SULLIVAN EAST 65, UNICOI COUNTY 63

BLUFF CITY — Dylan Bartley hit 10 of 12 free throw attempts and finished with 19 points to help rally the Patriots to the Three Rivers Conference win over the Blue Devils.

Ethan Bradford also landed in double figures with 10 points for Sullivan East.

Unicoi County jumped on top 28-14 after one quarter and led 40-29 at the half. Brock Thompson had 19 points to lead the Blue Devils. Bryson Peterson totaled 12 and Lucas Slagle 11.

NORTH GREENE 46, SULLIVAN NORTH 44

BAILEYTON — Chance Campbell scored 25 points, including hitting four free throws in overtime, as the Huskies pulled out the win over the Golden Raiders.

Sullivan North, which led 26-19 at the half, got a 15-point effort from Isaiah Pruitt. Christian Hill also hit double digits with 10 points.

TENNESSEE HIGH 70, CHEROKEE 37

ROGERSVILLE — Guard Cole McBrayer caught fire early in a 17-point performance for the Vikings.

Tennessee High controlled action on the inside as well, getting 16 points from Nolan Wishon and 13 from Blake Fauver in the Big 7 win.

Breiydon Gilliam, with 18, had nearly half of the Chiefs’ points.

ELIZABETHTON 54, JOHNSON COUNTY 43

MOUNTAIN CITY — A 13-3 third quarter pushed Elizabethton to the Three Rivers Conference victory.

Nico Ashley poured in 18 points for the Cyclones. Jake Roberts and Parker Hughes added 11 and 10.

Lucas Phillips’ 13 points were tops for the Longhorns, who trailed just 21-20 at halftime. Darren Cunningham added 11 and Michael Oxentine nine.

TRI-CITIES CHRISTIAN 79, PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 52

BLOUNTVILLE — Gavyn Etter hit five 3-pointers in a 23-point effort for the Eagles (9-4).

Adam Pigeon had an all-around performance of 14 points, 16 rebounds and six assists for Tri-Cities Christian. Drew Correll scored 14 points and Jesse Young accounted for nine points, seven assists and six rebounds.

Sam McAllister led Providence Academy with 19 points and Chris Miller had 16.
