Roger Cox celebrated his 80th birthday at a special birthday dinner for his children and spouses at Maddox in Brigham City on his birthday. There will be another celebration on May 6, 2018, for his children, grand- children, his great-granddaughter, and his extended family and friends. He will be gifting a copy of his history that he has spent the last year writing. It has been great and rewarding as he has reviewed his life and remembering the experiences he has been able to have. He has had a great life.
Roger was born April 10, 1938, in Hooper, to Anthony and Marion Cox. He was born into a large extended family with many cousins, uncles, and aunts, with whom he had lots of fun and memories. He was taught the value of honesty and hard work. He earned his Eagle Scout at age 14, the second Eagle Scout in Hooper.
He went to Hooper Elementary, Wahlquist Junior and Weber High School. He went on a mission to Eastern Canada, where President Thomas S. Monson was his Mission President, he maintained a close relationship with him throughout his life.
He then served in the Air Force Reserves. He attended all four universities, getting an Associate from Weber State, a Bachelors from Utah State, a Masters from BYU and Doctorate from University of Utah. He has been in education for 55 years. He retired from the Weber School District as Assistant Superintendent.
He married Kaye Miller in 1962, and they have been married 55 years. They are the parents of five children, they have 17 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. They have traveled to almost all of the 50 states and have seen so much of the world as they have traveled and cruised over the years. They have served over 11 years on three missions locally.
Roger taught all of his grandchildren how to swim, many outside games, and has had many cousin nights and sleepovers.
His greatest love is his family and doing for them. He has remodeled many of their houses. Everyone knows he will do anything for them and he loves them dearly.
