Fourth generation joins Hamlett-Dobson

From staff reports • May 10, 2020 at 10:00 PM

KINGSPORT — In keeping with a longstanding family tradition, Carson Correll has joined Hamlett-Dobson as a fourth generation funeral director.

As a teenager and while attending Dobyns-Bennett, Correll worked alongside his father, Chad Correll, and his grandfather, Harold Childress. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in accounting and returned to Kingsport in August 2019 to begin working at Hamlett-Dobson. Carson is currently earning a degree in mortuary science from John A. Gupton College.

Carson has rich family ties connecting him to past and present funeral directors within the Hamlett-Dobson organization. He is the great-grandson of Jimmy Dobson, one of the original founders of Hamlett-Dobson, and the grandson of Harold and Emily Dobson Childress. By watching his father and grandfather help families make final arrangements for their loved ones, Carson learned about the funeral business and is now pleased to carry on the family-owned tradition of Hamlett-Dobson.

Hamlett-Dobson has two area locations: 117 E. Charlemont Ave. in Kingsport and in Fall Branch at 1747 Highway 93. Hamlett-Dobson is open every day, 24 hours. Call (423) 378-3134 for more information or visit www.hamlett-dobson.com.
