The background: KKB was one of more than 80 individuals or organizations recognized at the event for a commitment and passion to transform public spaces into beautiful places.
“KKB has been a Keep America Beautiful national award winner for the past four years, having been recognized the last two years with the Affiliate Sustained Excellence Award,” said KKB Director Robin Cleary. “This year, Keep Kingsport Beautiful was the only Tennessee affiliate to receive a National Award from Keep America Beautiful. We were recognized in the same category with communities such as Oklahoma City, Tampa, Cincinnati and Irving, Texas. KKB is able to maintain this level of program excellence because of the strong commitment of support from the city of Kingsport, the Kingsport Chamber, our corporate sponsors and most importantly our wonderful volunteers who have a love for our environment, sustaining our natural resources and community beautification, but most importantly love where they live.”
About the event: The Keep America Beautiful National Conference, the organization’s premier educational and networking event, brought together nearly 400 leaders from Keep America Beautiful’s national network of affiliates, business leaders, policymakers and other experts who shared innovative ideas and proven strategies to help end littering, improve recycling and beautify America’s communities. Celebrating its 65th anniversary in 2018, Keep America Beautiful believes everyone has a right to live in a clean, green and beautiful community and shares a responsibility to contribute to that vision.
The event’s Leadership Sponsors were: Altria, Lowe’s, Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, SC Johnson, A Family Company and Wrigley Company Foundation.
Keep Kingsport Beautiful is a partnership of the city of Kingsport and the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.
