Since the parade is a nighttime event, all participating vehicles and floats are required to have holiday-styled lighting. Marching bands are encouraged to illuminate the lead banner with battery-powered lights. Entries should not exceed 65 feet in total length.
There is only one Santa Claus in the Kingsport Christmas Parade and his appearance has already been requested.
Application fees are:
• $50 — Commercial float and/or oversized/non-standard vehicle (with or without walkers)
• $40 — Standard size vehicle (i.e. car, pickup, SUV or motorcycle) and nonprofit groups
• $25 — Non-float entry (i.e. walking groups)
• No fee for marching bands or school-affiliated groups
Fees are nonrefundable. After Friday, Nov. 15, application fees will increase by $15. All applications and payments are due by 5 p.m. on Nov. 22.
Applications are available online at downtownkingsport.org under the “Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting” tab under the “Events” main tab and at the DKA office located at the Kingsport Chamber, 400 Clinchfield St., Suite 100.
