The number of confirmed cases in the LENOWISCO Health District of Southwest Virginia remained unchanged from Friday, according to the Virginia Department of Health (www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus).
Statewide, in Tennessee, the TDH reported a total of 9,189 (up 463 since Friday) cases since tracking began in March. The state reported a total of 178 deaths (up 10 from Friday) and 821 hospitalizations. Of all the confirmed cases, 4,467 are listed as recovered, which the TDH defines as people who (1) have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or (2) are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
In Northeast Tennessee, Saturday’s case numbers by county include: 10 cases, one death and four recoveries in Carter; 41 cases, two deaths and 25 recoveries in Greene; no cases in Hancock; 29 cases, two deaths and 26 recoveries in Hawkins; two cases and two recoveries in Johnson; 48 cases, one death and 42 recoveries in Sullivan; three cases and two recoveries in Unicoi; and 49 cases and 44 recoveries in Washington County.
Across the commonwealth, the VDH reported a total of 12,366 cases (up 772 since Friday) with 1,942 hospitalizations and 436 deaths since the pandemic began.
In Southwest Virginia, Saturday’s case numbers by county include: eight confirmed cases, one hospitalization and no deaths in Lee County; 20 confirmed cases, nine hospitalizations and one death in Wise County; five cases, one hospitalization and one death in Scott County; and two cases, one hospitalization and no deaths in Norton.
As of Saturday, labs in Tennessee had performed a total of 141,406 tests, while labs in Virginia had performed 72,178.
