According to the Kingsport Police Department, Darius D. Woodbury, 24, was apprehended Wednesday in Sleepy Hollow Village. He remains jailed in Westchester County, New York, and is awaiting extradition to Tennessee.
Woodbury, 1741 McGee St., Kingsport, had an active warrant for attempted second-degree murder. According to the KPD, on Oct. 15 Woodbury was involved in an altercation at Dogwood Terrace Apartments on Bowater Drive.
Woodbury is believed to have stabbed another man and fled the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS for treatment of his injuries.
At the time of the stabbing, Woodbury was on probation for a shooting incident that occurred in August 2016. He allegedly had words with pedestrians walking past a home on Riverside Avenue. After a challenge to fight, according to police reports, Woodbury pulled a handgun and fired several rounds.
No one was shot, but eight people were in Woodbury’s line of fire. He was arrested several days later on charges of felony reckless endangerment and aggravated assault.
Along with attempted murder for October’s stabbing, Woodbury also faces a charge of violation of probation.
In regard to the apprehension of Woodbury, Kingsport police extended their thanks to the New York police officers involved for their diligence in the case.
