BLOUNTVILLE — A Johnson City woman faces felony charges in Sullivan County after allegedly stealing more than $10,000 from an elderly or vulnerable adult.

Amber Tesia Nicole Gillette, 31, was jailed Wednesday evening. Her arrest was spurred by a February presentment to a Sullivan County grand jury and subsequent true bill indictments.

According to court records, from November 2015 through February 2018, Gillette exercised control over the victim’s finances. In that time period, more than $10,000 is alleged to have been siphoned from the victim.

Witnesses who appeared before the grand jury included a Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office detective and representatives of Wells Fargo, Walmart and Food City. The presentment doesn’t specify the victim’s age or relationship to Gillette. The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office is declining to comment on the case.

Gillette, 121 Lynn Road, is charged with theft over $10,000, a Class C felony, and financial exploitation of an elderly or vulnerable adult, a Class B felony. As of Thursday morning, she was held in the Sullivan County jail on $15,000 bond.
