KINGSPORT - Charles (Charlie) Clark, 83, of this area, passed away on Thursday morning (May 16, 2019) at Durham-Hensley Health and Rehab Center following a very lengthy illness.
Charles was a resident for many years of the Pactolus community. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University where he earned two degrees. Charles was an entrepreneur throughout this area for many years. He was an avid fisherman who loved just being outdoors. Mr. Clark was a historian for Sullivan County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Irene Lingerfelt Clark; his brother, Wendell Clark and a sister, Barbara Clark Crouch.
Charles Clark is survived by his daughters, Leslie Lawson and husband, Steve, Jennifer Grubaugh and husband, Eric; a son, Everett Clark and wife, Michelle; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren along with a niece and two nephews.
A visitation will take place on Sunday (May 19, 2019) from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence of the granddaughter, Cynthia Salyer. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday (May 19, 2019) at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Minister Phip Sams, officiating. A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post # 3/#265 on Monday (May 20, 2019) at 10 a.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m.
