Ray Kerney

GATE CITY, VA - Ray Kerney, 68, of Hilton Road, Gate City, VA passed away early Wednesday morning, November 20, 2019, at Holston Valley Medical Center.   He was a lifelong resident of Scott County and the son of the late George and Marie Bledsoe Kerney.

Ray was retired from Holliston Mills and was an avid outdoorsman.

Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father in law, Creed Farley. 

He is survived by his wife, Susan Kerney; daughter, Heather Smith; son, Jamie Kerney and wife Shannon; two grandchildren, Seth Smith and Braxton Kerney; sisters, Irene Porter and husband Bill, Jean Bellamy, and Robin Jessee; brothers, Ed Kerney and wife Jackie, Harold Kerney and wife Elizabeth; mother in law, Vivian Farley; brother in law, Skip Farley and wife Lisa; brother in law, Danny Rhoton; several nieces and nephews; special great nephew, Austin Karr; special friends, Junior Bowery, Billy McDavid, and Jerry Gillenwater.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2019, at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA and other times at the residence of his mother in law.   Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM with Rev. Bill Porter

and Pastor Junior Bowery officiating.   Music will be provided by Pine Grove Harmony.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at Holston View Cemetery.  For those wishing to attend, please meet at the funeral home at 12:30 to go in procession to the cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jon Bowery, John Farley, Jeremy Bellamy, Andy Bellamy, Travis Calhoun, Evan Farley, Aaron Farley, and Robert Wilson.
