Chappell, Lukens lead Volunteer soccer to win

CHURCH HILL — Alyssa Chappell recorded a brace and Emma Lukens added a third goal to lead the Volunteer soccer team to a 3-2 victory over visiting David Crockett on Monday.

Lauren Grevelle came through with two assists and Makenzey Smith had one for the Lady Falcons. Erin Smallwood was in goal for the win.

Londyn Horton gave the Lady Pioneers the early lead on a penalty kick. Crockett’s Addie Stadler scored on a cross from Lauren Myers for the match’s final goal.

The Lady Falcons are back in action Tuesday at home against Sullivan South.

Volleyball

WISE CENTRAL 3, RYE COVE 1

CLINCHPORT — The Lady Warriors went on the road and pulled out the victory over nondistrict foe Rye Cove, 25-15, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22.

Olivia Sanders had 14 kills to lead the Central offense, and Caitlin Glover had 37 assists with 12 digs. Rylee Duncan added 11 kills and Hannah McAmis posted a team-best 34 digs.

Charlee Long had 12 kills and four blocks and Bayleigh Allison had nine in the winning effort.

Ashton Horton had 12 kills, three blocks, four digs and seven service points with two aces to lead the Lady Eagles.

Eva Roach supplied 20 assists, 17 digs and 11 service points, Kaleigh Sloan popped up 22 digs to go with five kills, four service points and a block, and Emilee Carlson added 11 digs for Rye Cove.

GATE CITY 3, SULLIVAN EAST 0

GATE CITY — The Lady Blue Devils earned the interstate sweep over the visiting Lady Patriots, winning 25-17, 25-10, 26-24.

Ashton Adkins had an all-around effort of seven kills, 23 assists and 11 digs for Sullivan East. Gracey Byrd and Zoe Johnson each had five kills, and Hayley Grubb had a team-best 16 digs.

SULLIVAN NORTH 3, JOHNSON COUNTY 2

KINGSPORT — On the night the Lady Golden Raiders honored their volleyball seniors — Natalie Hale, Lexi Edwards, Sahara Bates and Abbi Potter — the team gave the school another reason to smile.

After three losses to Johnson County this season, the Lady Golden Raiders pulled out a thrilling 22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 15-11 victory.

VOLUNTEER 3, CHEROKEE 0

ROGERSVILLE — Jersey Wines posted a double-double of 10 kills and 19 digs for the Lady Falcons, who made quick work of the rival Lady Chiefs.

Raenah Barton added seven kills in Volunteer’s 25-19, 25-8, 25-15 victory.

Hope Bachman came up with 14 digs, and Emma Green and Josie Stapleton had 10 each for the visiting team. Rylee Wines dished out 18 assists and Sydney Dobbs finished with 10.

MORRISTOWN EAST 3, DAVID CROCKETT 0

JONESBOROUGH — The Lady Hurricanes rocked the Lady Pioneers in a 25-21, 25-23, 25-16 nonconference decision.

Emma Gouge paced Crockett with 10 kills and six blocks. Maddie Pleasant had 29 digs and Morgan Barkley came up with 15.
