Several organizations are partnering to hold a Day of Caring at the park on Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Darrell’s Dream Boundless Playground will be closed during that time for cleaning and landscaping.
About the event
Volunteers will gather leaves, plant greenery, mulch, pressure wash playground equipment, weed and clean up all areas of the playground.
While the park will not be closed on Nov. 9, access to the playground will be restricted during the work hours. In the event of rain, the volunteer day will be rescheduled for Nov. 16.
The Day of Caring is organized by the Friends of Warriors’ Path State Park, the Kiwanis Club of Kingsport, high school Key Clubs, TN Achieves, the Kingsport Lions Club, the Northeast Tennessee Master Gardeners, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Kingsport Jaycees. Sponsors include Walmart, Chef’s Pizza, Perkins and Mycroft Signs.
How to help
Neighbors, churches and youth groups are invited to volunteer and join the cause. For more information or to become a sponsor or volunteer, contact Mary Steadman at [email protected] or (423) 956-4330.
Friends of Warriors Path fosters conservation and educational efforts and assists park staff in preserving and protecting facilities and resources. Participants should see Mary Steadman or Park Manager Sarah Leedy when they arrive.
Darrell’s Dream Boundless Playground draws over 165,000 visitors per year. Efforts are underway to replace the Braille Trail signage and treehouse signage through grants from the Kiwanis Club of Kingsport, Kingsport Lions Club and the Palmer Center Foundation.
