MOUNT CARMEL — Four of Mount Carmel’s 10 alderman candidates, and two of its three mayoral candidates attended a candidate forum Thursday at the Senior Center, answering questions from the audience.

Mayoral candidates Chris Jones and Tina Carico were in attendance.

Event moderator Philip Holt said Mayor Larry Frost had called him that afternoon and said he couldn’t attend because something had come up.

The alderman candidates who attended were Alan Cloyd, Wanda Davidson, Jennifer Williams and Diane Adams.

Alderman candidate Denise Livesay informed the Times-News that day she couldn’t attend due to an event she has been scheduled to attend for months which was taking place at the same time as the forum.

Alderman candidate Carl Wolfe didn’t attend due to an event in which he and his late wife were being honored by the rescue squad, but Wolfe did send a letter which was read aloud by Holt.

Holt said he was contacted by alderman candidate Paul Hale who told Holt he couldn’t get off work and wouldn’t be able to attend.

Other alderman candidates not in attendance were George Bridwell who reportedly told Holt he would attend but then didn’t come; Pat Stilwell who Holt said he hadn’t been able to get in touch with; and Kevin Engwiller Sr. who told Holt he had to take his wife to the hospital that night.
