Wise County authorities investigating threatening phone calls

APPALACHIA — Wise County Sheriff’s Department investigators are trying to find if a series of threatening phone calls is connected to the discovery of a body in Appalachia Sunday.

Sheriff’s Department Col. Grant Kilgore said a man made several calls to the sheriff’s dispatcher early Sunday threatening to kill his girlfriend. Around 10 a.m., Kilgore said, a body was found at Inman Village. The identity of the victim is being withheld since the investigation is continuing, but Kilgore said investigators are trying to determine if the two incidents are related.
